Abe shares that the hardest thing
about growing his small business has been finding people that
understand and think about things in the the same way that he does.
Leadership can be lonely - and finding like-minded people along the
journey has not always been easy.
His favorite business books are
any from Seth Godin, including "Purple Cow," along with "The Dip"
and "This is Marketing." Abe highly recommends these books for
their powerful insights.
Abe recommends the Working
Geniuses podcast & material by Patrick Lencioni for professional
development. It's a powerful tool that identifies your (and your
team’s) strengths, competencies, and frustrations, and offers
valuable insights.
When asked about the most
important tool for small business growth, Abe believes that it's
not one particular tool but having the right people around you that
is critical. He emphasizes the importance of surrounding yourself
with a diverse team who are ‘better then you at what they do’ (and
then being prepared to empower them to do their jobs.)
Abe would tell himself on day one of starting out 25 years to “stay passionate, stay nimble, and most importantly, keep valuing people, because they are the heart of any great business.”
